Art and boating in the Arsenale

Venice, May 07, 2019 –  “Preparations for the Venice Boat Show are in full swing – says Luigi Brugnaro, Mayor of Venice –key Italian and international exhibitors are going to be exhibiting and we are satisfied with the response for the first edition of this three-year Adriatic boat show programme. “  From June 18 to 23, around 50 yachts and superyachts, ranging from 15 to 50 metres long, will be present at the Arsenale in Venice, giving life to the Darsena Grande docks, while over 100 exhibitors displaying accessories, boating services and other pleasure boats, will be set up in the indoor section of Tese delle Nappe and the external areas.  We are continuing to work at full speed so that everything is ready for the opening day”

During the Boat Show, the Arsenale will also stage several pieces of contemporary art that have been set up for the 58th Biennial of Art and installations, including that of the Italo-American artist, Lorenzo Quinn, with his evocative Building Bridges masterpiece. The installation is composed of six pairs of hands, joined together over the small dry dock, giving life to an extraordinary scenery that brings together craft, art and nautical technology, a metaphor of living a lifestyle of excellences, making them almost a unique market.

Among the boats present is the brand new 50-metre steel Riva that stands out for its size and full expression of Made in Italy, a flagship that the Ferretti Group will be presenting to its customers in a reserved form the week running up to the show. All the Ferretti Group brands will also be represented by boats measuring 37 to 12 metres.

Among those who enthusiastically confirmed their participation is Monte Carlo Yachts, a shipyard located in Monfalcone and which offers a range of motoryachts designed by Studio Nuvolari Lenard, based in Treviso. “We return with pleasure to the city of Venice for a special occasion like the first edition of the Boat Show. – says Fabrizio Iarrera, managing director of Monte Carlo Yachts – Our shipyard is strongly linked to the lagoon not only because of its close geographical location along the Adriatic, but because since 2010, the city has welcomed the official presentation of the brand and the launch of our first model. It was exactly at the Arsenale that in 2015 we presented our flagship, the MCY 105, and then the award-winning MCY 96 at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. A series of important occasions have increasingly linked our business to this wonderful city”.

Another facility that is very close to Venice is the Cranchi shipyard, originally from Piantedo in Lombardy, which has built an important production site in San Giorgio di Nogaro. Two boats will be on show in the Arsenale, the E52S and the M44HT, which are two of the brand’s best-sellers: “The Venetian Boat Show offers an evocative meeting point between the contemporary and ancient naval industry – says Paola Cranchi, Sales and Marketing Manager of the brand – In fact, Cranchi yachts are produced in the facilities where pleasure boats with the highest automation level in the world are built and they will make their entrance through the waters of the Arsenale; the heart of the naval industry of the Venetian Republic that dominated the Mediterranean for centuries”.

The historic Arsenale therefore also becomes a model of industrial continuity: it is here that the ”Camuffos” initially developed the first procedures to reduce ship building times while improving quality.  There will be no lack of sailboats on display.  Among the first to confirm their participation at the show was Neo Yachts & Composites, bringing their brand new Neo 350 to the quay, an imposing sailboat from Bari by the designer Giovanni Ceccarelli, who was born Ravenna. “A series of positive circumstances has allowed us to exhibit our Neo 350 whose home port is near Venice. – says Paolo Semerato – The Northern Adriatic is full of regattas, with an important calendar of events and it is also strategic for us. I don’t believe it is mere coincidence that the main Italian sailboat builders are in the Adriatic Sea”. The Unlimited C53 catamaran commissioned by Gian Paolo Pellizza and made with high-tech under the supervision of Vittorio Malingri at Adria Sail in Fano will also be on show. From the town in the Marche region comes a recent initiative; the launch of the Eleva Yachts brand, which will be present with The Fifty, also designed by Giovanni Ceccarelli.  The Fifty is a boat with a completely new, recognizable and personal line. ”Two years ago we wanted to launch a new brand to build innovative boats with a quality level, above all as regards the construction of a single hull – says Samuele Poli who manages the yard with his partner Michele Pierleoni – we are proud to be in Venice with this boat”. Significant space is given to hybrid and electric boats, which is marked by the participation of two builders from Northern Europe, the Swedish XShore and the Finnish Q- Yachts.
